Last year, during Teej, I was approached by a group of ladies who were confused about planning their kitty party. They wanted something beyond just songs and snacks. Inspired by that event, here are 5 tried-and-loved games perfect for your Teej celebration.
1. Peas and Bangles Balance Challenge
- Arrange as many bangles as you can on a plate.
- Have a bowl of peas ready nearby.
Instructions:
- Balance the plate on the player’s head and throw the peas inside the bangles one by one.
- Set a time limit of 30 seconds for each player’s turn.
How to calculate scores
- Each pea successfully placed inside a bangle earns 1 point.
- Peas placed outside the bangles do not count towards the score.
- At the end of 30 seconds, count the total number of peas inside the bangles for each player.
- The player with the highest score, who places the maximum peas inside the bangles at the end of the game, is the winner.
- In case of a tie, the players can have a tiebreaker round or share the victory.
Safety Precautions:
- Ensure that the plate and bangles are not too heavy and should not be made of glass to prevent injury if they fall.

2. Colorful Bangles pairing Game
Things Needed:
- One rolling pin.
- Two sets of bangles in different colours (e.g., red and green).
Before starting the game, mix both sets of bangles.
Instructions:
- Arrange the mixed bangles on both sides of the rolling pin in a specific pattern.
- Set a time limit of 30 seconds for each player’s turn.
How to play:
- The sequence for arranging the bangles on each side of the rolling pin is: red, green, red, green, and so on.
- Players take turns to arrange as many bangles as they can within the given time limit.
- The bangles must be placed on both sides of the rolling pin, following the specified sequence..
How to score
- Each correctly arranged pair of bangles (one red and one green) earns 1 point.
- Pairs must be in the correct sequence (red followed by green) to count towards the score.
- At the end of 30 seconds, count the total number of correctly arranged pairs for each player.

Rules:
- Players must arrange the bangles on both sides of the rolling pin without dropping them.
- The rolling pin should be held steadily to prevent bangles from falling off during arrangement.

3. Cup and Bangle Colour Match Challenge
Things Needed:
- Two paper cups or glasses.
- Two sets of bangles in different colours (e.g., red and green).
- Fork.
- Two slips of paper, one labelled ‘red’ and the other ‘green’.
Mixing Bangles:
- Before starting the game, mix both sets of bangles.
Preparation:
- Place the glasses upside down on a flat surface.
- Prepare two slips of paper, one labelled ‘red’ and the other ‘green’, and place them in a container..
How to play:
- Players use a fork to separate and place red-coloured bangles into one glass and green-coloured bangles into the other.
- Players must work quickly and efficiently to sort as many bangles as they can within the given time limit.
Picking a Slip:
- After the player finishes sorting the bangles, they pick one slip of paper from the bowl without looking.
- If they pick the slip labelled ‘red’, count the number of red-coloured bangles in the glass; if they pick ‘green’, count the number of green-coloured bangles.
Scoring:
- The player’s score is determined by the number of bangles corresponding to the colour written on the slip they picked.
- Repeat this process for all players.
- 🔍 Real Story Add-on: One player from my group sorted all red bangles correctly but picked the “green” slip—oops! Everyone laughed, and that made the game memorable.
Winner Declaration:
- The player with the most bangles of the specified color (red or green) at the end of the game is the winner.
Rules for the game
- Ensure that players use the fork to separate the bangles and avoid using their hands.
- Players must handle the glasses carefully to prevent them from falling or tipping over during the game.
- Use only lightweight bangles.
4. Bangle-Coin Drop Challenge
Things Needed:
- Bangles (at least 10 to create the circle).
- Coins (one for each pair of bangles).
- A bowl to place in the centre of the circle.
- Earbuds.
Setting Up:
- Arrange the bangles in a large circle, ensuring there is enough space between each bangle.
- Place one coin between each pair of bangles within the circle.
- Position the bowl in the centre of the circle.
Instructions:
- Pick up the coins using earbuds and drop them into the bowl without touching any bangle.
- Set a time limit of either 30 seconds or 1 minute for each player’s turn.
- Ask to players to move slowly and steadily to avoid touching the bangles while picking up the coins.
How to Play
- Players use the earbuds to carefully pick up the coins one by one.
- They must navigate the earbuds around the bangles without touching them.
- If a coin touches any bangle while being picked up, both the coin and the bangle are eliminated from the game.
- After picking up a coin, the player must carefully drop it into the bowl placed in the centre of the circle.
- Only coins successfully dropped into the bowl count towards the player’s score.
Scoring:
- Each coin successfully dropped into the bowl earns the player one point.
- Coins that are dropped outside the bowl or not dropped due to touching a bangle do not count towards the score.
- At the end of the game, count the total number of coins successfully dropped into the bowl for each player.
Winner Declaration:
- The player with the highest score who dropped maximum number of coins into the bowl will be the winner of the game.
